to Dec 2

Stretching in the morning continues. I need to stretch through out the say while at work, just to keep things from contracting.

Otherwise, this is just trying to keep one foot in front of the other.

To Oct 5

I spent the weekend trying to fix things: my garage gym, my basement, my kitchen and my interenet access. All of them messed up by a little boy and his attempts to be a big boy.

He means well, but it comes across as ugh.

Anyway, Monday morning got into my garage gym for the first time since ... well . I can't recall. A long while. Since before the Covid-19 started. Just stretching for about fifteen minutes. So welcome.

I saw my gym again and I nearly cried. It's going to be a long journey back to health. Again.

to Sept 23

Well, I've been stretching as soon as I wake up.

My family has been stressed and then a grandparent passed away last week. Yeah, it wasn't something that was unexpected - she was really sick, fighting Cancer for two years.

As always, cancer sucks.

And then my neighbours call in the City to let them know I haven't had the stuff together to mow my lawn in a few weeks. And work is always stressful. So ... yeah. It's been a few weeks of stress.

At least I've been able to stretch and try to get myself moving again.

Sept 9-13

I'm liking this "new to me" Apple Watch, as it reminds me to move and to focus on my breathing every once in a while.

I'm also liking the activity tracker, too. I'll investigate the online versions of this information this week.

But at least I'm not having to deal with the stuff my wife is having to deal with - her mother passed this past week. Not a good week to start anything, but I have kept up the whole rolling out of bed and stretching for 20 minutes or so routine in the morning. It does appear to be helping, but Im' not sure how much it is helping.

Legs and hips are stiff from limited activity for the last half a year. Ankles, too.

I've got a mountain to climb.

March 9 to September 8

Not going to lie. This was a tough time, made easier by becoming a bump on the couch.

A lot of wasted time and opportunity some might say. Lost chances to come out the other side a better version of yourself.

I was trapped ... I am trapped in a madhouse with a scary clown who doesn't sleep nor likes order to anything. I'm trapped with Sleeping Beauties, too. Alice in Wonderlands.

Who knows just how deep this rabbit hole goes? I'm not sure I would even know if I hit the bottom of it. This time, this six or so months were hard.

Very hard.

Working online was hard. Twice, as I did summer school.

I had to quit an online class in April and not finish an in-person class in March. I stopped extra online work in June.

I had to make sure that my children were fed and woke up and completed their work as I completed my work and then had an almost daily staff meeting to attend. We struggled as the youngest had changes in his treatment and routines and sleep patterns and ... everything went like a car crash.

I'm grateful that I survived and that all my family survived. I'm glad my family remains intact as well. Many didn't. I'm grateful that my wife and I are going to be working together towards retirement next.

My happiness is with her. I keep telling her that. I keep letting her know that. I keep living that.

The next steps while I return to work and while my children gradually return to school are dark and clouded. It's going to be a confusing and awkward time for all of us.

It's going to be really hard.

In the middle of all of this, my eldest is going away for school. I'm glad she is out of this madhouse. I want her to see that life with this scary clown isn't normal. It isn't normal to have a raving lunatic screaming up and down the stairs at 3am daily. It isn't normal to watch someone be up for forty hours and then sleep for twelve as a pattern for weeks and weeks. To urinate and defecate where ever. To bear witness to your father crying at 3am from lack of sleep and stress. the endless routine of stress and fatigue. All of that isn't normal.

And my eldest is going to see that starting this week.

And I need to get as fit and strong as I was before all of this started because ... well ... I know being in shape won't make the clown go away or solve their issues. What it will do is make me mentally stronger and more able to extend what it is I can do to respond to demands placed on me and my family.

So now all that remains is to start on the journey to fitness again.

Feb 19 to March 8

Some workouts, some tragedies.

I had a minor flood in my basement and I am still getting the wet crap out.

I'll be doing that for a while, I think.

Anyway, life is as good as it can be. I was up with a rancid freak out until 3am Sunday morning. I just needed sleep, man.

It's amazing where my child can hide a peanut butter and jam sandwich. Seriously.

Feb 13 to 18

And so ... I move forward. We have to ... all of us, have to keep moving forward.

Most days in this period, I had a holiday weekend, which I basically took off and did nothing.

Until Monday when I got a bit angry at myself and did a quick session for myself in my garage gym.

At least I got my gym membership fixed up. At least I got some things done.

Jan 30 to Feb 12

There were a few workouts.

And a new job.

I needed out and I got out from a rather stressful situation.

It's good so far and I'm liking the place. Seriously, I like this new place.

I need to get back into shape. The rugby emails are starting - getting ready for the pre-season and the like.

I don't know what I want to put into print about how I'm feeling about this spring and summer coming up. All I know is that I missed an awful lot of workouts in the past four months.

Jan 19-29

Yeah, some sessions, only walking and hiking going on these days.

Lots of stuff got finished ... just now.

Grateful I had it together and got it done. Finished it.

All of it.

Now, I can focus on the bigger problems and see what I can do about solving them in the next few months, if anything.

Including fitness and getting my groove back.

Terrible movie reference, but whatever.

Jan 9-18

Some hiking, a few kettlebell works outs, but nothing really.

I could blame the season, the stress or the job ... but not sure which. I'm hoping that with a new semester, a new set of habits will take and I can get back to better living.

Meh, I had a few walks on the beach this week and that was pretty cool.

Dec 21 to Jan 8

Yeah, I'm getting things back in order.

I got a training session done Monday. I'm hiking, too. Found that I had an app called AllTrails on my phone and explored it. Seems there are trails to hike all around my city. I scratched the surface and liked the feeling.

Anyway, the training session was a struggle. So unfit. My phone and HRM did not want to work together. It was on and the off and then on...switching from working to not working.

By the end of thesession, things had worked out and it was back working together.

But things are walking on eggshells these days.
